  • Sisterhood Stories | ASA Drexel

Why ASA? Hannah Maurer "On my first Rush Day this fall I wore a long white skirt and I definitely felt that I stood out of the group. When I got to the ASA house, multiple sisters complimented me on my outfit and I already felt at home. I ended up officially joining ASA fall of 2023. As a nursing major, I decided to wait to hold leadership positions until next year. But, I’ve met so many amazing people who have already impacted my life in such a great way. I’ve started growing closer with sisters through our sisterhood and social events, and I always feel safe knowing we look out for each other. I never imagined being this consumed and happy at Drexel, but I can say that joining ASA was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I cannot wait to spend my next 5 years with these sisters." Ashley Rukab "ASA has given me the most meaningful connections and lifelong friendships. Being a COVID senior, I wasn't sure where I would fit after so many online classes and not being on campus. I was extremely introverted and unsure of where I belonged. Joining ASA has given me everything I hoped, I now have a place I can call my home and a sense of belongingness at Drexel. I've lived in the house and held positions and ASA has definitely helped me come out of my shell and grow. ASA is the reason I am who I am today and my home at Drexel." Kali Poole "Being a part of ASA has changed my life. The unconditional love and support from my sisters pushes me to be a better version of myself every day, and I could not be more grateful. Nu Nu has given me so many opportunities that I will cherish for the rest of my life. From holding positions to meeting new people to embodying our eight core values, every memory has its own special place in my life. I grew up as an only child, but the past 3 years has shown me exactly what it means to be a sister. They say home is where the heart is, and my heart is with the girls of Nu Nu." Taylor Clarke "I honestly never considered joining a sorority until I met girls from Alpha Sigma Alpha during night on the row. I just got to Drexel as a small town first generation college student and being in a new place was extremely overwhelming. It was so natural talking to sisters from ASA, and I knew I wanted to be apart of such a loving, caring, and ambitious group of girls. Whether it is hanging out in a Friday night, getting help with homework, asking for advice, or going out on coffee date, there will always be a sister there for you. My sorority family and friends have truly made a big impact in my life, and I can’t want to do the same for new members that join ASA. We focus on building up our community and supporting them through thick and thin. Alpha Sigma Alpha is a welcoming organization that treats everyone like family and is a place that has made me feel like I belong!"

  • Recruitment | ASA Drexel

What does Recruitment mean to Alpha Sigma Alpha? Recruitment is a time that we treasure as a chapter. It is the avenue for our chapter members to have an opportunity to come together to relive stories, and experiences, share, be together, and learn the values of our chapter and how special it is to be an Alpha Sig. Recruitment means that we are preparing our hearts to welcome in a new group of women and create the same sisterhood and community that a long line of powerful women have created before us. This process means more life-giving experiences and a safe place for women who want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. We treasure our new members and love watching them grow into the future leaders of our chapter. What is rush like? Formal recruitment (fall) takes place over the course of 4 days, starting with an open house for a chance to meet the sisters and get to know the ins and outs of ASA. Later on you'll learn about our philanthropies and service initiatives, and finally recieve your official offer and join us at your new home! Girls doing formal recruitment rush all the sorority houses on campus, not just ASA. Unlike formal recruitment, informal recruitment (held in spring) only requires potential new members to rush one house, in a much more casual setting. This is a chance for the sorority to really get to know you and determine if you'd be a good fit for the sisterhood!
